Lauren Smith is a sophomore at OSU from Portland, OR. Her major is Radiation Health Physics with a Pre-Med option, and she also has minors in Spanish and Physics. She hopes to someday work in the medical field as a Medical Physicist to help patients with their cancer treatment and radiation therapy. Another goal of hers is to become fluent in Spanish so she can communicate with more patients in her career. She recently studied abroad in Quito, Ecuador for two months with other OSU students! It was an amazing experience that helped her get closer to her goal and gave her a better perspective on language and culture.
Outside of class, she loves to stay active and spend time with friends and family. She has played volleyball since she was nine years old and now she is also in the process of training for the Corvallis Half Marathon this spring. She loves visiting home to see her parents, her three siblings, and her adorable one year old nephew. Two of her siblings are OSU alumni, so they are huge Beaver fans! And of course, her life wouldn’t be complete without her two dogs, Maya and Meeko.
She can’t wait to meet new and perspective OSU engineering students, and she is looking forward to another great year!
